Clothing Collections
There have been a number of companies posting leaflets through doors asking for unwanted clothes.
They state that they will be distributed in charity shops in eastern Europe.

Most of these are NOT registered charities and sell on the clothing for profit.

Only give to registered charities and ask to see their house-to-house collection licence.
Anyone collecting money or property for a charitable, benevolent or philanthropic purpose
requires this licence according to the 1939 House-to-House Collections Act.

Note: Some leaflets have a registered business number but this is NOT the same as a registered charity.

The London branch of the Charities Commission is investigating.
