  Constitution of the Association adopted by the Inaugural General Meeting 23 April 1997
   
1. The title of the Association shall be BRICKET WOOD NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH ASSOCIATION (Hereinafter called BWNWA).
2. BWNWA shall consist of Individual Members grouped into Neighbourhood Watches each covering a road or part of a road in the Village of Bricket Wood. Each Watch shall be lead by a Co-ordinator. A number of Watches (and so Co-ordinators) may be linked together by a Group Co-ordinator.

3.1 At the Inaugural General Meeting of Members, the activities of the Steering Committee which was formed to establish BWNWA were endorsed and an Executive Committee was elected.
3.2 The Executive Committee shall consist of five Officers, two Ordinary Members and the Community Police Officer for the time being. The Officers shall be the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and a Publicity Officer. The Officers and Committee Members shall hold office for one year, but shall be eligible for re-election, except that no Officer or Committee Member shall serve in any one capacity for more than five years. Former Officers or Committee Members shall again be eligible for election after an absence of one year.
3.3 At the discretion of the elected Committee, additional Members may be co-opted to serve either as a permanent or as ad-hoc Members.
4. A General Meeting of Members of BWNWA shall be held annually, in April. Formal Notice of the Annual General Meeting and of other General Meetings shall be given at least one calendar month before the date of such meetings, by means of a Newsletter published by the Executive Committee and circulated by the Co-ordinators.
5. Except when the services of a commercial enterprise have been ordered, no payment shall be made for any activity undertaken for or on behalf of BWNWA. Expenses incurred in the pursuance of the Objects of BWNWA and approved by the Executive Committee shall be reimbursed. Whenever practical, receipts for such expenses shall be submitted to the Treasurer.
6. The Objects of BWNWA shall be:
 
6.1 to assist the Hertfordshire Constabulary in preventing, reducing and solving crime in (but not limited to) the Village of Bricket Wood;
6.2 to liaise with such other bodies as the Executive Committee may select and in particular, the Police Crime Prevention Panels, Police Liaison Committees, other Voluntary and Statutory Bodies, National and other local Neighbourhood Watches;
6.3 to arrange such Meetings and Exhibitions for Co-ordinators and other Members as will enable all Members to be kept abreast of current Police procedures and activities;
6.4 to enable Members, through their individual Watch Co-ordinators, to be informed of criminal activities which have taken place, or which the Police believe are likely to be attempted, together with advice on what steps can be taken to avoid attracting such unwelcome attention;
6.5 to raise such funds as may be necessary for the pursuance of these Objects by way of subscriptions from Members or by contributions from any source acceptable to the Executive Committee;
6.6 to provide insurance against any legal liability incurred in the execution of BWNWA business in respect of accidental death or bodily injury of any person or accidental loss of or damage to property;
6.7 to maintain records of Membership, subscriptions and the accounts of BWNWA, which shall be audited and presented annually to the Annual General Meeting.
7. Resolutions for the Annual General Meeting shall be submitted to the Secretary at least two calendar months before such meeting. At the written request of Twenty Members, an Extraordinary General Meeting shall be convened, but decisions of General Meeting may not be reversed or amended before the following Annual General Meeting. Except as in Clause 8 (below), a simple majority of Members present and voting shall suffice to accept any resolution.
8. Amendments to this Constitution shall be subject to Clause 7 (above), except that a two-thirds majority of Members present and voting shall be required for this purpose.
