When you arrive home, be aware of what you do with your car and house keys.

Many people place them on a hook or drop them on a table near the front door.

Your car may have the latest security devices fitted but these are normally of no use if someone has your keys.

If your keys are visible to callers to your door then they may be taken without your notice. This can happen if you leave a caller at the door whilst you fetch something from another room.

In parts of the country, there has been an increase in the number of keys being stolen, by 'fishing' with a hook on a long cane through letterboxes.

Think of the value of your car. Would you leave the equivalent in cash on your hall table?

It is also easier to sell a car when the thief has the keys!
